EDUCATION
Mr. Bagshaw was raised in the old fishing town of Gloucester,
Massachusetts,
where as a youngster he worked summers on the docks. He received his
bachelor’s degree summa cum laude from Bowdoin College
in 1975, with dual majors in physics and mathematics. At Bowdoin, he
was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. After Bowdoin, he entered M.I.T.’s
physics Ph.D. program, from which he eventually switched to a career in
law. He received his law degree cum laude from the Harvard University
School of Law in 1981.
BAR MEMBERSHIPS
Mr. Bagshaw is admitted to practice in all courts in Washington State,
in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and in the United States Supreme
Court.
FAA LICENSES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Mr. Bagshaw holds a commercial pilot’s license with single engine land
and sea and instrument ratings. He is also a certified flight
instructor and teaches instrument flying in his spare time.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Mr. Bagshaw donates his time to the Seattle Downtown Legal Clinic, has
been a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, an organization that provides free
air transport for children needing special medical treatment, and has
donated hundreds of hours of legal time to various causes.
SABBATICAL
Mr. Bagshaw is sailing the Pacific on a year long sabbatical. He will return to the practice of law in
September 2008.
